What is ENJJPT?

European North Atlantic Treaty Organization Joint Jet Pilot Training Program

In an effort to train fighter pilots for the NATO Alliance to mitigate soaring costs and improve interoperability among Nation Partners, 1981 the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program at Sheppard AFB, Texas, USA was stood up. After 55 weeks pilots graduate from a three-phase training program and are then winged military aviators. The student pilots train on the T6 TEXAN II and the T38C TALON training aircraft. The program now boasts 14 NATO Partners to include Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Romania became the latest partner to join in 2016. In addition to training new pilots, ENJJPT also provides instruction for Pilot Instructors, Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals, and IFF Upgrade Instructor Pilot training. More than 8,300 students have earned their wings during ENJJPT’s over 43-year history.
